How To Limit Internet Bandwidth Of WiFi Users

Online access to specific Windows utilities for viewing WiFi-connected devices is possible. These WiFi tools provide us access to all the information about the devices that are connected, including their MAC and IP addresses. These techniques cannot, however, be used to restrict bandwidth usage.

You can stop paying extra for excessive internet use if you set a bandwidth limit. There are a ton of Windows Bandwidth Limiter programs online, but what happens? A third-party program is not required in order to reduce bandwidth. Furthermore, the majority of modems and routers are equipped with a bandwidth management that regulates the speed and data consumption of all connected devices.

How To Limit Internet Bandwidth Of WiFi Users

Therefore, we will provide a thorough tutorial on configuring bandwidth management on D-Link, Tenda, and TP-Link routers in this article.

First, TP-Link

The TP-Link Router can be configured to limit bandwidth by following the easy instructions below. To prevent any mistakes, though, be sure to follow the instructions precisely.

1. Start by opening your web browser and entering http://tplinkwifi.net or another default access in the URL bar.

2. You will be prompted to enter the ID and password in the following stage. 'admin' in lowercase is typically the default password, if you haven't changed it.

3. Now, click on the Bandwidth Control Settings from the left-hand side menu.

4. Head to the Bandwidth Control > Rules List and click Add New.

5. Next, you will be asked to enter the IP Address. Enter the device’s IP Address to which you want to apply the bandwidth rule. Under the Egress Bandwidth enter the Max and Min upload speed limit. Under the Ingress Bandwidth, enter the min and max download speed. The default number is 0.

6. Finally, click on Save.

That’s it; you are done! If you want to remove the Bandwidth limit, head to the same page and delete the rule.

2) D-Link

Like TP-Link, D-Link routers also allow users to set up Bandwidth control. So, for that, follow some of the simple steps given below.

1. First, log in to the D-link router login page and click on Advanced from the top menu bar. Now, hover over the Advanced Network, then under the Traffic Management, click on Bandwidth Profiles.

2. Click Save to activate the Enable Bandwidth Profiles checkbox. Then, to add a new bandwidth limit, click Add.

3. The profile must have a name, and the drop-down menu's Profile Type must be changed to Rate. After that, click Save Settings after entering the Minimum and Maximum Bandwidth Rate.

4. Select "Traffic Control" from the menu on the left, then check the box next to "Enable Traffic Control." Next, choose the rule you generated earlier and scroll down to input the IP address under "Traffic Control Rules."

3) Tenda

Tenda offers users the same bandwidth management configuration options as all other router manufacturers. Here's how to restrict the Tenda Router's internet speed..

Open your web browser. Now, enter the IP Address of Tenda’s website.

Log in with your username & password and select the Advanced Tab.

Select the DHCP client list option on the right side.

You can see every device linked to your network on the right.

Make a note of the device's IP address so you can implement the speed limit there.

Navigate to the QOS tab and choose the Enable Bandwidth Control checkbox.

Set the bandwidth range, upload/download limit, and IP address now.

After finishing, select Add to List.

And that's it! To regulate the internet speed or bandwidth restriction on each device, you have to go through the same process again.

Save the settings at the end. And with that, you're done! This is how both TP-Link and D-Link routers may manually limit network bandwidth.
