WhatsApp May Soon Allow Status Displays in Chat Windows

The software behemoth from California is also exploring a new feature as part of this that will allow users' personal information to appear within their talks. Put otherwise, the WhatsApp status of a user will appear next to their last seen in the chat window.

The new functionality was found in the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.11 update, which is accessible through the Google Play Store, by WABetaInfo, a well-known WhatsApp tipster publication.

The screenshot above illustrates how the status and last seen (if enabled) will show up in the chat window beneath the contact name. Users will see the status of the other person beneath their name if they are offline, and the last seen and status will be displayed separately if they are online. But only if the contact has allowed it in their WhatsApp privacy settings will the information be visible.

The WABetaInfo report adds, "Moreover, this enhances visibility in the event that users have recently updated their profile info, guaranteeing that others in the conversation are promptly aware of any changes."

With the help of this new feature, users can now easily check a WhatsApp user's text status without having to tap on their profile and view their profile details right within the chat window without having to open a separate profile information screen.

Users have been providing feedback and asking for the addition of a comparable feature for the past few years, according to WABetaInfo.

According to the WABetaInfo article, WhatsApp is now proving that it is committed to improving the overall user experience and changing the platform to meet changing needs. Over the years, many users have sent input to urge the implementation of a similar function.

The ability to see a user's profile details in the chat window is currently under development and will be included in a later version of WhatsApp for Android. It remains to be seen, though, if an iOS device version of this functionality is being developed.
