Good number of users do get the error ‘Your Account was flagged for potential abuse’ while generating a response from the Ai Chatbot. Some other uses as well encounter this error even when creating an account with ChatGPT.

Today I will be discussing with us, why the error message appears and how to get rid of it as well. Prior to knowing how to go about solving the error it’s crucial to know why it appears. It may be as a result of the following reasons.

1. Your zip address has been flagged 

2. You are getting numerous response 

3. The use of VPN 

4. Use of prohibited words. 

How to fix the ChatGPT ‘ Your Account was flagged for potential abuse’ Error 

Now that we are now conversant with the reasons for the error, you may look for ways to resolve it. 

Below I’m sharing  with us best way to resolving this error each time we come across it.

1. Check if ChatGPT is available in your area 

These open Ai has spread worldwide, it’s still not available to some countries, if you came from any of the unsupported countries and you were able to create an account, you are likely to see this error message. At any point OpenAi detects your actual reason., it likely your account will get disabled. 

You might be asking which are the countries where ChatGPT is not yet available, that’s a nice question if you thought about this, these countries are as follows;

If you see this error upon signing up, all you need to do is wait for a couple of days and then try signing up again. Most often, if the Ip Address assigned to your device participates in any suspicious activities. That will immediately lead to a red flag in Open Ai, leading to an IP ban.

When ever this happens, you get to see the error message, on the contrary if  block incorrectly, OpenAl unblocks the IPAddress and allows you to create an account. So it’s advisable to hold on for few days, may be a day or two before creating another account.

3. Using a Different Phone Number to Sign Up

It could be possible the phone number you used to create an OpenAI account has been flagged for potential abuse error. You can also use a virtual number, one can generate a phone number and use it for account verification, as soon as it’s verified, you won’t get the error message again.

4. Disable VPN

Lets assume ChatGPT is available in your country and you are using VPN to unblock the site, there is every possibility that OpenAI has flagged your IP Address.  

Now if you are getting the ‘your account was flagged for potential abuse error message, you need to disable the VPN before creating account.

5. Using a new email address to sign up 

If you have done all necessary things required and yet you’re still getting the same error on ChatGPT,  you can use a new email address or you try using s temporary mail, Thai is temp mail.

6. Make sure to Disable Private DNS

premium or private DNS has a good advantage such as AdBlock and malware blocking, making use of private DNS can sometimes be the cause for the error. These happens when OpenDNS detects your device as a bot, leading to an account ban or IP ban, now if you want to use a private DNS, you must turn it off and create a new account.

7. Clear your Browser Cache 

This may not sound correct for this error, but it helped many users to resolve the error

Firstly open the Google chrome browser and click on the three dots at the top of the right corner. Then from the list of options that appears select more tools clear browsing data. 

Now switch the advanced tab and select All Time on the time range. Select cookies and cached images and files and click on clear Data. 

Here we go, this will clear your saved cookies and cache of the Google Chrome browser. Once done, disconnect the VPN or Private DNS and sign up for ChatGPT 

8. Get in touch with OpenAI

One good thing is that they have an excellent support team ready to assist it’s users. You can contact the support team of OpenAI and give a description of the problem you’re having.
