The five Way Bridge in Italy
Welcome to my blog once again, it’s my pleasure feeding you with the vital informations you need to know, the five way bridge is located in a place called Comacchio in Italy, it’s called the Ponte dei Trepponti. The name originated from the word tre (three) and ponti (bridge) , the prefix tri refers to the split in the canal underneath the bridge.
It was built in the year 1638 as part of the Comacchio’s renovation, after the city was invaded. The Trepponti bridge would be one of the city’s maim gates as well as entrance into its canal network.
The bridge spans the palotta canal, which divides the under it, the saint Agostino canal and San Petro canals making up the old Comacchio most also intersect the canal here that lead to the five way bridge. Five of them linked by a central istrain public square, held up by a cross vaulted ceilings.
Abinitio when the bridge was made, it’s guard towers were said to be missing. They were added in 1695 reinforce the defensive parapets, under cardinal Giuseppe Renato Imperiali.
